SDS retains the services of several world-class Parliamentary coaches. Our coaches have appeared in the final rounds of the World University Debating Championships (WUDC), APDA Nationals Finals, US BP Nationals Finals (USUDC), North American BP Finals (NAUDC), and numerous other major tournaments. They have been top speakers at APDA Nationals, the North American Championships, the US Universities Debating Championships and many other tournaments.

Parliamentary Coaches 2022-23

Asher Spector

Asher is a PhD student in Stanford's statistics department, and (more importantly) is happily a coach for Stanford’s parliamentary debate team. In college, Asher competed in British and American parliamentary debate for Harvard, where he won the North American championships (2019), finaled at the HWS round robin (2021), reached semifinals at APDA nationals (2021) and the Yale IV (2019), and broke seventh at the WUDC 2021 (where he promptly lost in octofinals), alongside various other international breaks. When he’s not coaching for SDS, Asher can be found playing ping-pong, doing research, and quote "trying to convince undergraduates to join the team, because it’s an amazing organization"!

Enshia Li

Enshia Li '22 studied English Literature and East Asian Studies at Stanford. As a member of SDS, she broke at 20+ tournaments and reached the semifinals of the Oxford IV, North American Debating Championships, and US Universities Debating Championships. Notably only starting debate at Stanford, she went on to serve as President of SDS. She has been appointed as the Chief Adjudicator of the Yale IV 2022 and Deputy Chief Adjudicator of the US Universities Debating Championship 2022. Outside of debate coaching, Enshia can be found enjoying creative writing, reading and learning languages!

Enting Lee

Enting was Chief Adjudicator of WUDC 2022 and has judged four WUDC finals, as well as the finals of three Asian championships, Oxford IV, and Cambridge IV. A long time ago, she was a finalist and top speaker of the North American Universities Debating Championships, a finalist and 4th speaker of the HWS Round Robin, and a two-time finalist of the Yale IV. Slightly more recently, she was the top speaker of the LSE Open and the coach for the Panama WSDC team and the Harvard WUDC team. Other than debating, Enting can be found crafting, doing yoga and binge-reading!
